McCollum website still ticking down the seconds since deposition demand (at least for now)

The website for Bill McCollum’s gubernatorial campaign remains on the Internet, and it’s still counting down the seconds since he demanded that Rick Scott release a sealed deposition.

McCollum has made no secret of the fact that, while other leading Republicans fall in line behind Scott, their new gubernatorial candidate, McCollum wants no part of it.

BillMcCollum.com, meanwhile, continues to cycle through various images and messages on its front page. When we visited today, we were greeted with the familiar boldface, capital-lettered message, RICK SCOTT—RELEASE THE DEPOSITION. When we reloaded the page, a different image appeared reminding us that Jeb Bush, who is appearing this evening with Scott in Jacksonville, had endorsed McCollum in the primary.

Clicking on the “deposition” image leads directly to a still-active ticker tracking the time since McCollum demanded that Scott make public his sealed deposition in a doctor’s case against Solantic, a healthcare company in which Scott is a major investor.  Scott has steadfastly declined to release the deposition, calling it a “private matter” unrelated to the governor’s race.

The Scott campaign declined to comment on the surviving website.

Kristy Campbell, spokeswoman for McCollum’s campaign, said the campaign has already taken down its primary anti-Scott website, scottfraudfiles.com. Negative components of McCollum’s main website are in the process of being archived and removed, although some neutral remnants of the site, such as the attorney general’s bio, may remain online for other purposes, she said.
