Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn now has his own Foursquare page.
Buckhorn’s branded page was set up by Engage, a Washington D.C.-based digital political consulting firm.
“We believe that Mayor Buckhorn’s launch onto foursquare is big news for the platform and for the use of new media by politicians,” said Jordan Raynor, the firm’s client director.
Buckhorn has set up extensive lists of things to do around the city, including visiting parks, dining and shopping, even government buildings. He has has also left tips at some of his favorite locations, including his favorite ride at Busch Gardens and his favorite burger at Ella’s restaurant.
Foursquare, used primarily on Internet-capable smart phones, allows users to “check in” at businesses and other locations and leave tips about a business for other users. People who check into a place most often become its “mayor.”
