In a ceremony at Memorial Park, MacDill Air Force Base celebrated Veterans Day this morning.
With active duty personnel, veterans and guests looking on, there was the National Anthem, the traditional presentation of the colors, a reading of the names of Medal of Honor winners and a time for those who served to stand up and recognize their branch and the reason they joined.
“Welcome to the Team MacDill Veterans Day ceremony,” said Air Force MSgt. Jessie Lopez. “Today, we honor all who have proudly and honorably served our nation.”
Those who served, he said, “wrote a blank check to the United States of America for an amount up to and including their life.”
