When I was growing up, one of my favorite books was “War in The Air” about, obviously enough, the air war in WW2. As a military history and aviation geek, I am, like, totally stoked to check out AirFest 2011 this weekend at MacDill Air Force Base.
There’s lots to see, but one of the things I am most looking forward to is checking out the Osprey, given its controversial development and, from what I have been reading and hearing, its success in Afghanistan.
The Osprey won’t be flying, but the Thunderbirds, a B-25 Mitchell bomber and several other war birds will be. For a more details, check out the Trib’s Friday Extra story I wrote.
And for more info, updated schedules and transporation routes, check out MacDill’s AirFest 2011 Facebook page.
