Jeb Bush Jr., younger son of the former governor, has endorsed Marco Rubio in the Florida U.S. Senate race, choosing Rubio over Gov. Charlie Crist.
It’s commonly thought that the former Gov. Bush is also favorable to Rubio in his primary challenge to Crist, the dominant frontrunner, but the elder Bush hasn’t taken sides publicly.
Endorsements by Bush’s children, however, don’t always reflect the father’s opinion.
In the 2008 GOP presidential primary, the elder Bush remained publicly neutral until the battle was all but over, but was thought to be a backer of Mitt Romney, largely because so many of his political advisers and aides lined up with Romney.
But in that race, Jeb Jr. picked Rudy Giuliani, and Bush’s other son, George P. Bush, signed up with the Fred Thompson campaign.
