There’s some buzz that the long-expected Jeb Bush endorsement of Marco Rubio will happen at the Pasco County Republican Party’s Reagan Day dinner May 7.
Well, maybe.
A couple of things are sure: 1. The Pasco party is planning a Reagan Day dinner in early May, but even the location isn’t set yet, said county party Chairman Randy Maggard. 2. Bush has been invited, according to Maggard. 3. Rubio is hoping to attend, according to his campaign.
Beyond that, it gets foggy. Maggard said Rubio hadn’t been officially invited, but Rubio’s campaign said he’s been asked to come and, “We’re hoping to make it happen,” in the words of Rubio spokesman Alex Burgos.
Assuming they’re both at the event, there’s no schedule yet. Will Bush introduce Rubio, endorsing him in the process? No one’s saying.
Bush has done pretty much everything but endorse Rubio—including bashing Charlie Crist—and is widely reported to be tacitly supporting him.
If Rubio has a conflicting event of some sort, he’d almost certainly cancel it if he thought he could instead be on stage with Jeb Bush for an endorsement in a key Tampa Bay area county. But Burgos said there has been no discussion of the event between the Rubio campaign and Bush.
