Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, a Republican who’s exploring a run for governor, will make a stop in Tampa June 8 for a conference on obesity at the University of South Florida.
That’s about as non-political an appearance as a potential candidate for president is likely to make during the run-up to Florida’s early primary. Once severely overweight, Huckabee lost 110 pounds after being diagnosed with diabetes in 2003. Since then, he has made many speeches and appearances on the subject of weight loss.
But it’s no accident this will be Huckabee’s second appearance in three weeks in the Central Florida area. A former Baptist pastor, he spoke to a gathering of religious right activists in Orlando May 19.
Huckabee has formed an exploratory committee for a presidential run, but hasn’t declared a candidacy.
A press spokeswoman didn’t immediately know what else Huckabee might be doing in Tampa during the visit, but it’s unlikely he’d come only for the obesity event and not make some political moves while he’s here.

Good thing for Huckabee that he is a Republican. If he were a Democrat, he would have just lost his eligibility to win any convention delegates for the infraction of campaigning in the Sunshine State.

The only obesity that Americans are concerned about these days is the
Suggest removal$3 1/2 Trillion tax bill for the Comprehensive Amnesty Bill that Sen. Martinez is trying to bloat us with. He should be boiled in cholesterol.
