Hillsborough Sheriff David Gee has staked his claim for another term as the county’s top law enforcement officer.
Gee, a Republican, filed paperwork Tuesday with Hillsborough’s election office to run for reelection in 2012.
Gee was first elected in 2004 after rising through the ranks to serve as second-in-command under then-Sheriff Cal Henderson, who retired. In 2008, he was reelected for another four-year term after no other candidates filed to challenge him.
