Exxon Mobil Corp., the world’s largest publicly traded oil company, set an industry record with a third-quarter net profit of almost $10 billion. Its quarterly revenue of more than $100 billion was greater than the annual gross domestic product of some of the largest oil-producing nations. Royal Dutch Shell also posted its best results ever.
As you pay some of the highest prices ever for gasoline at the pumps, do you have a message you want to send to these oil companies?

Oil Executives are laughing all the way to the bank and living in the lap of luxury while the average hard worker has to try and figure out how to pay for gas just to get to work everyday. How do they sleep at night? Do they waive the flag and say how greatful they are to the good ol’ USA for the higher than ever profits they are making at every American’s expense?
Where is your conscience? When will it be time for you to ‘give back’ to America?

What the oil companies have done is disgracefully unethical, but not illegal. It will always occur unless the public begins to legally demonstrate its outrage.

It is a shame that the oil companies/ and our Government allowed such price couging, at a time when its citizens were hard pressed because of the recent storms. Nothing like kicking someone when they are down.

We have been involved in a truly horriffic time in our country and the oil companies have taken advantage of it. Price gouging is illegal - if they have made such high profits, maybe someone should look into why? $3.00 for a gallon of gas…maybe they should give back a little instead of in their pockets?

I am appalled that Exxon Mobil Corp. has profited so greatly on the woes of the average consumer. It is ridiculous that these oil companies profit because of oil shortages, that cause the consumers to pay more per gallon. I for one have not bought gas at any Exxon or Mobil station, and never will.

Instead of sending American troops to terrorist countries and then paying billions to repair those countries, the military should gather up all of the “American terrorists,” the big business that is killing this country. It is offensive that our government condones this corruption; no doubt there are plenty of payoffs funneling into the White House.

Let’s face it, Pres. Bush sent us to a war for only one reason. Oil… Over 2,000 lives lost so far. How and why this man ever won re-election, I can not understand. Think about it, 2,000 lives and we are still paying at the pump. Does he sleep at night? Wake up people; quit giving him your unconditional support.

It’s funny I didn’t read anywhere in your oil profits article that Exxon-Mobil paid $25 billion in Income, Excise and other taxes on the the $100 billion in 3rd quarter revenues… That $25 billion is paying for roads, schools, defense department expenditures and anything else Congress wants to spend it on… Let’s keep this in prospective. We are a capitalist economy. Thank God for profits!!

I’m not surprised at the news the oil barons have set a record gain. All most of us middle class citizens have to do is look at our bank accounts. It’s truly sad, but so “Corporate” that the big cheese takes everything for themselves and leaves the “little people” to fend for every dime they can scrape up. With the cost of everything rising so much, trying to raise families, explaining to your children I’m sorry we can’t have this or do that because we don’t have enough money.
I guess that’s the American way for corporate America. Those in charge reap the rewards at the expense of every peon who either works for them or depends on them and makes them what they are!
I hope you’re able to sleep well in your mansions at night!

Has anyone addressed our energy source future?
Why is it that I have yet to read a single publication from any oil company regarding oil depletion projections?
Will we run out of oil in 2020, 2040?
What are our plans for the future?
Again, I think our nation deserves a real answer from the oil companies right now regarding the timeline for our oil reserves.
Instead of supporting spending for research to obtain better ways to find oil, maybe our nations leaders should be instead finding a totally different source of energy that cannot be depleted.
The earnings our supposedly responsible oil companies are obtaining now should go toward this research, not toward new ways to find more oil.

As a nation, how can we allow these gas companies to rip us off?
We kept hearing that the higher prices were to offset supply and the price of oil. Obviously, with the profit reports, it is a clear sign of price gouging.
To be honest, I don’t mind paying higher prices for gas as I think we have been spoiled for way to long, but I don’t like the fact that my gas money is going to the pockets of the Exxon executives.
I would prefer it go into R&D for alternative energies. Those are my two cents…

Why are the oil companies not regulated as utilities (Public Service Commission)? Could it be because our president is an oil man and is going to come out of the White House filthy rich (blind trust but I am relatively sure that his money is still in oil) as are all of his Texas friends. Shame on him, AGAIN!!!

I think it’s a shame that the oil companies get by with this kind of doings. I travel to Ala. just about weekly and I’ve noticed the gas prices drastically change from here to Ala.
I don’t think its just the oil companies its also the distributors also. Normally the price of gas in Marianna Fla. is 10 to 15 cents higher than it is here but on Monday afternoon it was 19 cent lower than down here.
In Ala. which is usually lower than it is in Fla, it was 6 cents higher, there has to something wrong with this picture.

Is it any wonder, when YOU elect a spoiled little rich boy, from oil rich Texas, to a position which allows him to pay back all his life’s favors to his cronies in the Oil Industry, College buddies (FEMA), or any personal friend who he thinks is “just a good person”...however not one BIT qualified for such a position of our nations legal system (Supreme Court Appointee)that our nation would FALL at the hands of this same man?
You ask how can this happen? Shame on you. It’s been happening and will continue to happen as long as he is office. And to those who voted for MR. Bush, YOU got what you wanted, now you are getting what you deserve.

Let’s see, now. Back in the mid ‘50s I vaguely remember a basic economics course. In effect it went along with the theory that if the raw material price increases, and you maintain the same profit MARGIN, your gross profits remain the same. Guess this has changed somewhere along the way. The Yale school of economics has its advantages.

I’m organizing a group of people to get the word out of a month long boycott of Exxon/Mobil for the month of November. We are working on protesting in front of stations throughout the bay area as well as posting signage on personal autos telling others of the boycott. December will be BP/Amocos turn. Come on folks. It is time to be heard.

Was there ever a time long ago when oil companies were decent?
My father was a factory worker for Sinclair oil (now split into BP or ARCO), who had to go on strike in the 60’s just to get a nickel an hour raise!!
After he passed away at the age of 90 several years ago I inheirited his company stock. The tactics they used through their company quarterly magazine to get stock-holders to lobby against govermental environmental regulations were so underhanded and devious that it made me sick. I sold the stock out of conscience within a year of inheiriting it.
What did the public expect by electing this president with all his ties to the oil industry!?!

Considering their at risk investment and expenses to get us the energy we so love to squander away with our inefficiencies, they should be making more profits….Good for them!

ITS CALLED STICK IT TO AMERICA FOR THE ALL MIGHTY DOLLAR.I HOPE IN THE NEAR FUTURE WE GET OUR TURN.ITS TIME GEO.W BUSH AND HIS OIL BUDDIES WAKE UP AND HELP THE PEOPLE.

I must admit, I was wrong. I was in sales selling cutting fluids and coolants for companies like Exxon-Mobil, Castrol and Texaco. I am now out of work “due to the economy”. The above companies had a price increase Jan. 1, May 15th, July 15th, (I lost my job July 8th) they’ve had another price increase since I left and I’ve heard another is in store before years end! Try to justify to your customers, why they are paying such an outrageous price for their product, when oil companies are reporting “record” profits. We have more oil in the form of oil shale in Colorado and the surrounding states than all of the Middle East combined. We just need to find a way to economically mine and process it. It is PAST time for America to wake up!

Exxon is a perfect example of the EVIL that operates in this world. It says in 1 Timothy 6:10 “that the love of money is the root of all evil”. Certainly, Exxon expresses the love of money when people are hurting, starving and being victimized due to Hurricanes and other disaters that effect our economy. $9 billions in profit for the quarter estimates to about $100K a second for the 90 days of 1st quarter. How charming is that??

Funny how the war in Iraq coincides with record oil profits. If I don’t know we’re in Iraq to control their oil and the supply of oil hit me with the idiot stick. How many more children the age of James Dungy will be blown up for Bush and his friends?

Gasoline prices are getting close to $3.00 gal. once again. The oil companies are reporting record profits.I suppose this is what you get for having an oil soaked president of the u.s.a. It is plain to see that Bush does not care for the citizens of the U.S.A. He is only concerned with making himself along with his cronies even more wealthy. Anyone else would give something back to the nation that made them so stinking rich. But not our prez….he just keeps sticking it to the people that arejust trying to get by. Wake up America. We are being driven to the poor house while Bush, Cheney and friends are swimming in money.

Ever since the oil crisis in 1972 there has been hardly any research done to prevent from the same thing happening again. Why dont we learn from the past?? If we had electric cars that could only go 100 miles between charges that would be sufficient for most of todays comutors. I hope all you suv and big gas guzzlers are happy with your cars. I see in the future all these cars on the used car lots and nobody to buy them. Again thanks to toyota for seeing the future and making the right cars for these times. Again we were cought with our pants down.
