Republican Senate candidate Adam Hasner, whose initial campaign fundraising has been less than stellar, has added some South Florida financial heavy hitters to his fundraising team and will be looking for better results.
South Florida auto dealership magnate Norman Braman plus former ambassadors Al Hoffman, Earle Mack and Ned Siegel have signed on with Hasner’s campaign, he announced today.
Hoffman, a Fort Myers developer and one of the GOP’s leading Florida fundraisers, has been a long-time backer of the Bush brothers, Marco Rubio’s finance chairman, finance chairman of the national Republican Party and finance co-chairman for both George W. Bush and John McCain.
Siegel, a Boca Raton real estate developer, has been active in Jewish charities and other philanthropies and has been appointed to government posts by both Jeb and George W. Bush.
Mack, of Palm Beach, is a real estate developer, horse breeder and patron of the arts.
In the second quarter of this year, which was Hasner’s first quarterly financial reporting period as a candidate, he reported bringing in about $560,000, compared to an impressive $950,000 from his most prominent opponent in the GOP U.S. Senate primary, George LeMieux.
But since the third major candidate in the race, state Senate President Mike Haridopolos, dropped out, Hasner has been adding high-level fundraisers.
A week ago he annouced addition of former Ambassador John Rood , Mike Hightower and others to his fundraising team.
