In the nearly five years since Sept. 11, more than three dozen men have died in Afghanistan, Iraq and Kuwait in the U.S.-led “War on Terror.” For some, the military was a career. But for many, it was meant to be a stepping stone to other things. Travel. Education. Police work. Teaching.

WE LOST A VERY PRECIOUS NEPHEW MIKEY. MY HUSBANDS SISTER GAILS SON. MIKEY WAS 21, VERY PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN ARMY SOLDIER, & WE ARE ALL SO VERY PROUD OF HIM. WE MISS & LOVE HIM SO VERY MUCH & WE KNOW THAT HE IS WITH OUR DEAR LOVING LORD. MIKEY WAS OVER SEAS WHEN MY HUSBAND & I WERE GETTING MARRIED IN BUFFALO NEW YORK & HE SURPRIZED US ALL BY COMING TO OUR WEDDING, SEEING HIS SMILING YOUNG FACE & SO VERY PROUD OF WEARING HIS UNIFORM. GOD BLESS ALL THE SOLDIERS & FAMILIES WHO ARE FIGHTING FOR OUR FREEDOM….. THANK-YOU ALL….

To Ms Debbie Hudsom, my family is greatful to the poem you posted. It made me cry but tears of honor. We lost our Marine son in Al-Anbar Iraq two years ago and the empty space in my heart will always be there.Thank you again for caring. Today my family celebrate my Christian’s birthday, remembering him and missing his presence. God bless you all that really cares. Our respect goes to you.
