Greene E-mail: New Deal With State “Will Allow” CSX To Avoid DRI Review

As the rest of us puzzle through what the state Department of Community Affairs’ willingness to enter a “preliminary development agreement” with the state would mean for construction of the new CSX hub in Winter Haven, City Manager David Greene seems to have a pretty clear idea.

In an email sent to his city commission on June 6, Greene wrote: “DCA is apparently willing to “Fast Track” a Preliminary Development Agreement with CSX. This will allow the Project to move forward on Phase 1 without a [development of regional impact review].”

To which, City Commissioner Yvonne Brooks responded:

“Hi David. This looks like wonderful news……and is really what we originally expected for the first phase…..right!

CONGRATULATIONS!

Yvonne”

To which Greene wrote back:

“Yvonne, pretty much before politics got so heavily involved. Miss ya. Take care. David”

I recently requested about a month’s worth of CSX emails from Greene’s office. They provide a look inside a city government that isn’t very communicative, at least not to me. I’ll be posting more about them.

I didn’t know an expectation of responsible planning was political. As a local resident, I’m tired of the arrogance of David Greene and the City Commission.  This email is the latest example of it.  How many times since Mr. Greene has been appointed City Manager has the City been in some conflict or another with other cities and the county.  Now there’s this law suit being levied against the city and how much money are we going to have to pay, just to satisfy Mr. Greenes’ ego. I say enough is enough. The people of Winter Haven need to ask for Mr.Greene to go and next election bring in some new commissioners that will do what’s right.
Thanks

It definitely is time for a new commission in Winter Haven and I encourage interested residents to participate in the electoral process by contributing and supporting the canidates who want to run.  This is the most important city election ever held that will impact Polk County.  A 8 million dollar airport is not what we need and they need think about a different approach or design that is not as costly.  David Greene only cares about spending city money.  Elect Macy V. Butler for City Comissioner, Seat 2.
