Thousands of Florida Republicans gathered in Orlando today turned their attention from the presidential race to their battle to unseat Sen. Bill Nelson – but that’s a race in which they face a problem.
None of the four leading candidates – Adam Hasner, George LeMieux, Mike McCalister and Craig Miller—has yet succeeded in inspiring their party’s grass roots and leadership. Polls out this week show state Republican voters unwilling to commit to any of them.
Some party insiders here say they’re still hoping for more choices – a new candidate or candidates entering the race – even though time is getting short to start and organize a campaign and fundraising operation.
