Newt Gingrich will appear for a small fundraising event at a Brandon restaurant owned by his county chairman, Sam Rashid, Jan. 24, just one week before the Florida primary.
Rashid said Gingrich will have a full day of Tampa Bay area public campaign appearances in addition to the breakfast fundraiser, but didn’t yet have details on what, where and when. Gingrich is also planning appearances at several Republican Party events in several counties the Saturday before the Jan. 31 primary.
Rashid said he expects about two dozen attendees at the invitation-only event, to contribute $20,000-$25,000.
Rashid hopes today’s New Hampshire primary and the coming South Carolina primary narrow the field of candidates.
For Gingrich to have a chance, “This has to be a two-man race when it comes to Florida,” he said.
