So I asked for your comments, suggestions, story ideas and guess what everyone wants to talk about? GAS. That is not a shocker but I did find a good little website to help me (and you) save money the next time you fill up. It’s MapQuest. For years, I’ve been using the site to get from point A to point B, but today I found out it has a “Gas Prices” feature. You type in your address or your zip code and it will show you the cheapest gas in your area. What’s even better, is you then click on the map and MapQuest will show you exactly how to get to that gas station. Give it a try and let me know what you think. And keep your comments on ANYTHING CONSUMER coming. I’m just starting to get the hang of this blog thing! S

Hooray for Alex Sink!
She called it right: the oil companies got the cost of gas up enough to scare the public into considering off-shore drilling in Florida and the Arctic Circle.
It’s time for EVERYONE to write their legislators, state and US, to let them know they need to quit supporting the high profit making oil companies and take care of our environment by not abusing it even more.
We’ve been through this before, and we’ll continue the cycle over and over if we don’t say “ENOUGH”!
It’s time to support those who have come up with alternative fuels to market them instead of stopping them.

One thing that I find many environmentalist’s never mention when they talk about using alternative energy to solve our gasoline crisis. That is: “Where are these vehicles?” I don’t see any windmill cars or solar cars for sale out there and if there were does that mean that everyone needs to junk their current vehicle in favor of buying one of these? Many environmentalists live in big cities and don’t own cars so they have no reality on what is like for people who live in some place like Wyoming or Montana where there are wide-open spaces and people have to drive miles to a grocery store. It is very easy for people to talk like this when it does not directly affect them.
