Tampa General Hospital is holding a graduation ceremony Thursday for the first group of Air Force nurses to take part in its Nurse Transition Program.
The program was created to give the five registered nurses practical training for their Air Force duties, according to TGH officials.
The graduation will take place at 1pm in the hospital’s MacInnes Auditorium, 2nd floor in the East Pavilion.
According to a TGH media release:
These nurses - who are completing their two month program at TGH - gained advanced skills to prepare them for nursing jobs in Air Force medical facilities in the United States and around the world. They had already completed their formal education and received their Registered Nursing degrees prior to coming to TGH.
Tampa General is one of only three hospitals in the country –and the only Florida hospital to offer the program. Hospitals must be a Level 1 trauma center and have Magnet designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) to be approved as a program site. The other program sites are at the University Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio and Scottsdale Healthcare in Scottsdale, Arizona.
The next set of nurses starts training at the end of September.
