I drive I-4 each day back and forth to work and about 6 times a week to attend church. I normally get in the slow lane go the speed limit and let the crazies fight it our in the other lanes. At times it is scary to watch people play out their aggression. The mind set is “as long as I only go 80 in a 70 MPH zone, I am not speeding”. That is like saying if I only steal a small item, I am not stealing. **Breaking the Law is Breaking the Law. However I know that the Police, Fire, Schools and lives are not a priority in the minds of Hillsborough County. Our police are way under staffed, under paid and over worked to be able to take control of the roads.

You know yesterday we drove I-4 from Tampa to the NE side of Orlando and my husband and I both commented as to how well the traffic seem to be flowing. It has been nine months or so since we have driven I-4 so we were pleased. We were not aware that an enforcement crackdown was in progress. It was long overdue. We also made a comment as to how fast some of the semi’s were driving and cutting in and out of traffic. That is scary. Thanks for making a effort to get the traffic under control. It was definitely needed.

My husband and I drive to work in Kissimmee from Lakeland on I-4 five days a week. The traffic flow has improved with the 3rd lane open, but the speeders are still there (especially the semi’s). It’s quite scarey when you are driving 65 mph and look in your rear-view mirrow and see the headlights of a semi right on your tail. They have to be doing close to 80 mph. Crack down on the semi’s.

We drive I-4 back and forth mostly everyday. We live in Valrico and our church is in Plant City and my daughter lives in Tampa and works in Plant City; so every time we have to drive I-4 we do it PRAYING. Specially when we see motorcycle riders speeding and changing lanes in front of those big trucks.
Suggest removalWell, we’ll keep praying ...and I ask every Christian to the same. Pray for the safety of drivers, for the workers, police and everyone involved around I-4 and every other streets and roads in our cities and/or counties.
Blessings to All.

Crackdown? What crackdown? Just about a month and a half ago, my wife and I were driving on I-4, and there was a bunch of young motorcyclists popping wheels, going in and out of traffic at speeds exceeding 90 miles an hour. I surely didn’t see any patrol cars around handing out tickets!!!

Indeed, the traffic on I-4 has improved, but there are still the die hard lunatics out there weaving in and out of traffic at high rates of speed. Or simply people not paying attention. This morning I witnessed a woman slowly weaving back and forth between the middle and slow lane, sometimes straddling the white line for several yards. She was driving as if intoxicated. As I was passing her, as quickly as possible, I noticed she was reading!! She had been doing this for several miles. Scary!!

All this crack down cost me a $140 ticket for not using my blinker “long” enough when switching lanes. Come on, not using it “Long” enough.
I would think they would have better crime to fight than aggressive turn signal users!
Suggest removalWhere were they when my car got stolen twice. Writing tickets as a fund raiser is not the right thing. Give tickets to people weaving in and out and speeding but don’t ruin everyone’s life.

I drive I-4 each working day. I enter the highway at the Ybor eastbound entrance ramp and have found the EXTREMELY short access lane to be VERY treacherous!
Most drivers already on I-4 eastbound speed through the area and do not allow others to access the interstate at that point.
Even though it is a temporary access, it should be made more safe. I must admit, once I’m able to get onto I-4, the rest of my trip to work is fairly easy.

I just was on I-4 this past weekend and find it has the same problems all of Florida roads have. People not paying attention and driving too slow in the pass lanes on all roads. Cars weaving in and out of traffic is caused by people driving too slow and holding up traffic. If you want safe roads tell people to start paying attention, stay off the phones, use turn signals and stay out of passing lanes!

I ride my motorcycle (very conservatively for the most part) every day on my transit to work from Brandon to St. Pete. The only issues I have about I-4 are the people who drive slower than the flow of traffic in the left lane. THE LEFT LANE IS FOR PASSING ONLY!!! If you are not passing someone please be courteous to other drivers and stay in the middle or right lanes. This is why accidents occur.

pg 1:crackdown? ha! not if you went to high school with a trooper investigating a crash caused by 2 motorcycles stunting in traffic(robert cook: 12 tickets pending at time of crash-130/70,reckless,willful endangerment,no m/c endorsement, multiple running stop lights & signs, passing in occupied lane, etc.)(sam lablance: active arrest warrant at time of crash-no valid drivers license and no m/c endorsement). cledus and roscoe couldn’t have done a worse investigation than rookie troopers R. J. Bunkley and Weston Gee. we had called 911 minutes before the crash reporting their deadly stupid stunting, yet the rookie troopers insisted that they had not been stunting-Gee promptly threatening to arrest me for lying to “investigating officers”.

pg 2: after requesting to speak with their superior twice, i was roughly manhandled into handcuffs, further traumatizing my 3 little girls who had just been crashed into a concrete wall at 70mph. and then recklessly and deliberately endagered them by a HCSD deputy flooring his car past-within inches of them-twice. the troopers refused to take any pictures or measurements. their “official” report states that the 5 passengers in my car were in fact passengers on robert cook’s BLACK motorcycle and that despite being loaded in an ambulance, he was able to remove his own BLACK m/c from the scene-contradicting the fact that trooper bunkley gave cook’s friends permission to remove the RED m/c that he actually crashed. stupid? corrupt? or both?
