Crist, Meek now have Senate race ads up

Both no-party candidate Charlie Crist and Democrat Kendrick Meek now have television ads up in the Florida U.S. Senate race.

Crist’s ad is a clever bit of videography in which he takes letters from the words “Republicans” and “Democrats” to form the word “Americans” while talking about how he’d represent only his constituents, not a party. It doesn’t mention his opponents. Check it out here.

Meek said in an interview Monday his new ad would be a “contrast” ad, language sometimes used by politicians to describe an ad which trashes their opponents, but the ad doesn’t name either of his opponents. Instead, it seeks to underline Meek’s contention that he’s the only Democrat in the race, and the only one who holds traditional Democratic positions on issues ranging from oil drilling and Everglades preservation to Social Security.

Check it out here.
