“Charlie Crist Jeopardy”

Posted Oct 18, 2006 by William March

Still trailing by double digits in polls, Democratic candidate for governor Jim Davis, normally known as mild-mannered and thoughtful, has toughened up his rhetoric against Republican opponent Charlie Crist.

In a recent news release headlined “Charlie Crist Jeopardy,” the campaign made sarcastic fun of Crist for factual gaffes in recent interviews.

Crist mistakenly said Davis was his congressman—it’s Bill Young; he told the Palm Beach Posts he didn’t know when the Florida Comprehensive Achievement Test was administered; and he seemed unsure whether his landlord could legally claim a homestead on the condo Crist rents. Homestead exemptions apply only to owner-occupied dwellings—“Shouldn’t the Florida Attorney General know that?” Davis asked.

Davis suggested readers give themselves one point if they knew their congressman, one if they knew when students take the FCAT and one if they knew what the homestead exemption was.

So what do you win? Well, nothing.

“For every question you got right, please consider making a contribution.  Would you give $10, $50, or $100 for every correct answer?”
