Dan Krassner, formerly press spokesman for the Florida Chamber of Commerce, is leaving to join the Alex Sink campaign for governor.
Krassner will be political outreach director in the Tampa Bay area for the campaign, said campaign spokeswoman Kyra Jennings.
In an announcement to Sink supporters, Krassner said working for Sinl “will be a great way for me to advance the Chamber’s mission of “leading Florida to a new and sustainable economy.”
Asked whether the move in any way reflects views of the Chamber in the race, Jennings said no—“Alex Sink is a former Chamber member and has supporters in the Chamber, but this reflects just his point of view,” she said.
The Chamber endorsed Republican Bill McCollum in the Republican primary for governor against Rick Scott, and backed its endorsement with a big pile of money—the U.S. Chamber gave $500,000 to an independent committee campaigning for McCollum. Scott won, however.
The Chamber didn’t take sides in the Democratic race, in which Sink faced only token opposition, and hasn’t announced a position in the general election.
