Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn and St. Petersburg Mayor Bill Foster have teamed up on a campaign to promote safe driving and red light cameras.
The duo appear in a recent public service announcements, along with police and fire chiefs from both cities and Melissa Wandall, whose husband Mark was killed by a red light runner, and others extolling to benefits of red light cameras, which are in currently place in both cities.
The videos, paid for by American Traffic Solutions of Scottsdale, Ariz. (which runs the cameras in Tampa and St. Pete) began airing a few weeks on local cable TV stations. They include a 30 second spot, seen here and a 60 second spot seen here.
In both PSAs, Tampa Police Chief Jane Castor urges viewers to text 723389 to “tell Florida’s leaders that we want safe roads.”

It is just an expected revenue generator. However this will backfire and cost the cities more than they make because many of those cited will not pay the fines, fight the citation in court, and there will be a net loss on these projects in the long run.
Just more PR crap for their resumes.
