Adam Hasner has scored a coup in in his Republican Senate primary campaign with the backing of former state House Speaker Allan Bense of Panama City, an elder statesman in the state GOP.
Bense will be state chairman for the Hasner campaign, according to an announcement from the campaign.
In the news release, Bense calls Hasner “the principled conservative that Florida Republicans should support.”
Bense was House speaker in 2004-06, while Hasner was in the state House. Hasner later became majority leader.
