Michele Bachmann has cancelled what was to be her first public campaign rally in Florida this weekend at The Villages, but instead will appear at a rally in Sarasota Aug. 28, according to the local GOP.
There’s no direct word from the Bachmann campaign on either event. But Sid Van Landingham of the Tri-County Tea Party group that was planning the appearance announced today that Bachmann is cancelling “with apologies, saying the heavily scheduled caucus appointments caused a scheduling conflict.”
Meanwhile, the Republican parties in Sarasota, Charlotte and Hardee counties, along with several tea party groups, announced a rally with Bachmann at 4 p.m. Aug. 28, at the Sahib Temple, 600 North Beneva Rd. in Sarasota.
Doors open at 3:15 p.m., and those wanting to attend—it’s free—are asked to RSVP here.
