Given all the ongoing tension with Iran, and our general love around these parts for anything pirate, I got a good chuckle out of this little news flash from the Pentagon:
At 3:00 P.M. Eastern Time today, Secretary Panetta called the USS John C. Stennis and spoke to Rear Admiral Craig Faller, commander of the Carrier Strike Group that conducted the successful operation that rescued 13 Iranian sailors from 15 suspected pirates yesterday in the northern Arabian Sea.
The Secretary congratulated Admiral Faller and the entire team, saying it was a “well executed effort.” He said the team did exactly the right thing, and that he’s proud of what they were able to do.
The Secretary said, “When we get a distress signal, we’re going to respond. That’s the nature of what our country is all about.”
