For the second time, a tentatively planned appearance by vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin in Central Florida has been canceled—this one because of the forecast of thunderstorms.
Palin was supposed to come to The Villages retirement community Sunday. That event, planned to be outdoors, has been postponed because of the threat of thunderstorms.
Campaign officials won’t talk on the record about upcoming events until a couple of days before they occur, so it’s unclear whether the event is likely to be rescheduled for a different place at the same time, a different time at the same place or not at all.
According to Weather.com, the forecast for the Lady Lake area for Sunday is for scattered thunderstorms and a 30 percent chance of rain.
A tentative plan for Palin to come to Tampa immediately after the Republican convention also fell through. The campaign never formally announced the event and never said anything about why it didn’t occur.

What a blessing for central Florida…that Barbie Doll Palen will not be making an appearance. Just imagine her becoming, by default, Commander in Chief. Oh well, she can see Russia from her back porch. Oi vey!
Suggest removalPor (Jenny Basile) on September 17, 2008 (Suggest removal)
No surprise that she didn’t show up, her nickname is “No Show Sarah”. Didn’t you read the article that said when she was running for Governor, she didn’t show up for about a dozen or so scheduled appearances. She talks a good talk but when it comes down to it, do you really think that she even knows what it really takes to be the VP? Wake Up People!!!!!!!!!!
Suggest removalShe’s Dick Chaney, with lipstick.

You have GOT to be joking, right? That woman is scared of a little bit of rain? And she thinks she can run this country if it becomes necessary?
Suggest removalPor (Rosemary Schons) on September 17, 2008 (Suggest removal)
I find it hard to believe that the threat of rain would keep Palin from keeping her scheduled even. What is going to happen if her party wins…we have another devastating hurricane…SHE surely won’t be there to offer support..not when the THREAT of rain keeps her away…? What does this say for her leadership abilities?

I’ve read a lot of the comments. But I really dont think that it’s her that makes her schedule or decision as to where or when she goes. It’s not like she just picks up and goes, there are numerous staff members and Repulican party uppers who dictate the events.

Spare me people, if there is a chance it will rain at an outside event they are going to reschedule or put it somewhere else - that is NOT Sarah’s decision, it takes into account people not being able to stand outside during a thunderstorm as well. What a bunch of crybaby whiners!! This is the most incredible women I’ve had the privledge to witness in my 42 years of life. The people against her are the same people who murder their babies everyday for convenience. It’s disgusting that they are afraid of losing that choice and they hate her for it!!

To the three that have already made mindless comments…get over the bitterness already !
Suggest removalFirst there has and never will be a VP or President with experience unless they are getting re-elected like Reagan or Clinton thats is a FACT. Why do you keep saying McCain / Palin are liars when NOBODY has pointed out what they have lied about…The reason you are probably the people who got all caught up in the Obama hype and now the air is out of his balloon and he has to talk about issues he has no knowledge of…..
Por (Joe Rhianenon) on September 17, 2008 (Suggest removal)
WOW! Listen to all the haters. Your boy Obama wouldn’t be caught dead in a place like that. He has to have his drones and the set designer for Britney Spears construct the Barack-opolis out at the DNC convention.
But have Palin, (not Palen, learn to spell) miss a tentative schedule event and the leftist fringe crucify her.

I would be willing to make a bet that she isn’t the one making that decision. I do think that she knows what being a Vice-President or President entails.
Suggest removalPor (Tony LaCola) on September 17, 2008 (Suggest removal)
Since when does a 30% chance of showers ever keep any event in Florida from happening? It’s part of life. This woman can’t answer questions. They keep cancelling events because she’ll make a gaffee. She might be intelligent but she’s not ready to be Vice President and I think this campaign knows this.
Suggest removalPor (Sharon Clarke) on September 17, 2008 (Suggest removal)
Mr. March,
Please say “April Fools”. Because there’s no way an event of this importance, regardless to whether you like either candidate, was cancelled because of rain. I’m sure the Villages has an indoor facility, where Mrs. Palin could have given her speech, or are the citizens of Florida not important enough to her?
Suggest removalPor (Phil Lalli) on September 17, 2008 (Suggest removal)
She comes from the most dangerous weather capital of the world but a t-storm keeps her out of Florida? I hope it isn’t drizzling out if she has to attend a summit meeting with Putin or some other World leader!
Sorry Vladimir, she couldn’t make it, it was foggy.
Come on, Caribou Barbie, you just can’t speak in front of crowds unless the speech has been rehearsed and rewritten a half dozen times, right? Those seniors in the Villages are a tough crowd!
Suggest removalPor (Karen La) on September 17, 2008 (Suggest removal)
I bet she doesn’t have a say in what is cancelled. I know that’s hard for the three people that posted here to understand but there are other reasons these events are cancelled.
Suggest removalPor (Tim McGlynn) on September 17, 2008 (Suggest removal)
Obama’s any different? he keeps people waiting like he’s axel rose or something, acts more like a rock star than a presidential candidate, even with the fake “rose garden ” backdrop!
Suggest removalPor (Ms Mam) on September 17, 2008 (Suggest removal)
Well this is just another biased article from the liberal folks in journalism. Seems to me that the media along with Barak Obama is just attacking her becuase they fear her! Give it a rest, just go vote on election day and whatever will be will be.
Suggest removalPor (tim mcglynn) on September 17, 2008 (Suggest removal)
guess you only print pro obama statement, so much for freedom of the press, or freedom of speech huh?
Suggest removalPor (pj book) on September 17, 2008 (Suggest removal)
Why do you care? It doesn’t matter. diebold has already decided who they want to run your lives next. Haven’t the republicans shown just how much Florida counts? Just look at the last two ‘elections’. Your vote means nothing. Just ask kathy harrass.
Suggest removalNo show sarah isn’t coming because someone in the media might ask her questions which she doesn’t want to provide the answers for. Like, “Hey sarah, you’re against the bridge to nowhere (now). Where’s the taxpayers money?”. “Hey sarah, who’s idea was it to make women pay for the rape kits?”. “Hey sarah, how is the town of 9000 supposed to pay off the 20 million dollar debt you left them with?”
She’s not change, she’s more of the same.
Por (John Nopper) on September 17, 2008 (Suggest removal)
I didn’t know she was touring with Stone Temple Pilots…
Suggest removalReally? Cancelled because of the weather forcast several days away? Does she know something we don’t?
Por (Brian Turbet) on September 17, 2008 (Suggest removal)
The three idiots that responded to this story sound like they have the cumulative IQ of a thermometer reading on a Winter’s day in the northeast.
Suggest removalI don’t think that they were attending the event anyway as it would be far too confusing to listen common sense solutions as opposed to the hope and change candidate, Lord Obama!! 143 working days in the US senate surely qualifies this smooth talking left wing liberal to be our next president. By the way, if the economy is in such bad shape, how has Obama collected 400 million in contributions? Sounds like tough times out there!!
Sarah Palin is running for VP, not president, and is still more qualified than Obama will ever be!!
Por (Olivia Davis) on September 17, 2008 (Suggest removal)
Makes me wonder what the real reason was!! Does she shrink in the rain? I think she doesn’t have her script down yet!
Suggest removalPor (Kelly Pines) on September 17, 2008 (Suggest removal)
You people believe anything the media throws your way…..as if she is scared of a storm. please! She lives in Alaska and has braved much worse when it comes to weather. She will be the best VP ever and should be running for President!
Suggest removalPor (Andrea Conover) on September 18, 2008 (Suggest removal)
the Sunday event was cancelled on Wednesday because of potential rain? Doesn’t Florida have potential rain every day? There must be some other reason(s) why Palin is not coming.
Suggest removalPor (tim mcglynn) on September 18, 2008 (Suggest removal)
If your not going to post oposing views you might as well remove the story, I’ve sent to comments defending Mrs. Palin And John McCain and neither made your blog. I guess your only posting Pro Obama statements
Suggest removalPor (Larry Glinzman) on September 18, 2008 (Suggest removal)
Maybe Palin is like the wicked witch of the west and she melts if she gets wet?
Suggest removalPor (X Calibur) on September 18, 2008 (Suggest removal)
She is so completely unqualified for the job and the platform they’re running her and McCain on smacks of cartoon villany it’s so one sided.
If this whole thing ends up with Barack in tights trying to ‘re-seize’ the white house from McCain than I am totally giving up on us ever having a culture here. I’m just going to treat the world like a mall.
