It’s quarter of 7. The sun is up. Our spirits are rising. We’ve seen a bunch of Apple employees in the past hour. It’s surprising how many people are working today.
As I’m typing, Aaron from Apple wheels a cart of Krispy Kreme coffee out for everyone in line. Cheap coffee has never tasted so good.
In about 15 minutes, the mall doors will open and we will be reunited with air conditioning. I suspect this last hour will be the longest.

It’s 5 a.m. and there are 34 people in line. One guy just drove by to tell us no one is lined up at the AT&T store. Thanks, dude.
I just saw some Apple employees pop out of the back door, but otherwise it has been quiet. I’m hoping a caravan of Starbucks and Chick-fil-A is inbound.

Evidently, the sprinklers at International Plaza are set to come on at 1:30 a.m. It’s too bad we are sitting right next to the landscaping.
Luckily we had enough audible warning to move out of the way; we’re all starting to get ripe sitting in the humidity and getting soaked with reclaimed water wouldn’t help the issue.
Official head count: 25 people.

I’m now number 3 in line. The guy in front of me decided to call it quits after 4 hours.
The rest of us are feeling a little more hardcore. (yeah, we’re geeks)

Without a decent Wi-Fi connection and power outlet, my computer is useless and dead. I am regretting my decision not to bring a book or magazine.
Another Apple employee just brought us water (thanks, Becca!) and asked how we are doing. There are 14 of us in line now, a rather underwhelming turnout so far. I have hopes that the line will grow so that the person who comes at 8:01am doesn’t end up in line right behind me.
The temperature is cool, the port-a-potties are clean and luxurious (with a mirror no less) and spirits are high. As long as the weather holds out, it won’t be so bad.
