The entire council chambers is already full, forcing overflow into a 100-seat room with closed-circuit television. Representatives of at least two churches pass out pamphlets near the entrance. The five local television stations all have satellite trucks in the parking lot, with reporters filing stories from the sidewalk.
There’s no sign yet of Steve Stanton, the transgendered city manager at the middle of it all.

LARGO – Longtime City Manager Steven Stanton told employees that he has been seeing a gender therapist for three years and is planning to have a sex change operation.
Stanton said in a memo he is beginning the final steps toward transgender surgery, which will require him to live for a year as a woman.
