AL LOPEZ: A TRUE BASEBALL ORIGINAL [1908-2005]

The Girl In The Floppy Pink Hat

10:55 a.m.

The first witness called is Sharon Armstrong, a family friend of the Lunsford family.

Prosecutor Pete Magrino pulls out a blown up photograph. He shows it to defense attorney Dan Lewan before entering it into evidence.

He then shows it to Armstrong, who took Jessica to church the night before she went missing. When Magrino shows her the photo, Armstrong begins crying.

It is the iconic picture of Jessie – her smiling broadly with a floppy pink hat.

Al Lopez Guestbook

TAMPA - He set the standard for local baseball excellence before Lou Piniella and Tony La Russa. Before Steve Garvey and Wade Boggs. Before Dwight Gooden and Tino Martinez.

Long before Tampa became renowned for launching the careers of so many major-league ballplayers, Al Lopez was the name synonymous with baseball in this area. When he died on Oct. 30, 2005, at age 97, the Bay area lost a legend.
