In the nearly five years since Sept. 11, more than three dozen men have died in Afghanistan, Iraq and Kuwait in the U.S.-led “War on Terror.” For some, the military was a career. But for many, it was meant to be a stepping stone to other things. Travel. Education. Police work. Teaching.
