The name game

We chose not to find out the sex of baby No. 2. This annoys many of our family and friends to no end. They ask: How are you going to decorate? What about clothes? Those are the least of my worries.
No, the hardest part of not knowing the sex is having to chose two names. Scott and I can’t agree on anything. First we threw out all the popular names. Then we threw out any names that we associate with someone we know (or a well-known figure/celebrity). Let me tell you, that doesn’t leave a lot of options!  I hear I name I like and then two weeks later, I decide I don’t like it. Last time we were convinced it was a boy, so we only had a boy’s name lined up. We had a girl.
This time we have only agreed on a girl’s name. You know what that means: It will be a boy.

Congratulations to start!  And also congratulations on not finding out the sex of the baby!  That is so cool we did that with our first and absolutely drove the family nuts.  grin  Yes the hardest part is to pick names - We decided on family names (Italian) for a boy and my husband had a name picked out for a girl that I had chosen when I was five - it was so cool.  But the second time around we found out we were having twins and it was the hardests coming up with four names so we found out the sex and narrowed it down.  You’re right it was hard - we couldn’t agree at first but as we got closer, we just decided on names.  But we got a book at a christian bookstore that gave the meanings of names and the spiritual connotation it really helped us decide on names based on the meanings of those names.  There are websites that also have meanings of names.  Hope that helps.

Kudos to you for not finding out! If I weren’t having twins, we wouldn’t have found out. I hope you 2 decide on names that fit you well! We chose names that were not very common for first names and are using family names for middle names. I personally think the name should be all about meaning! Good luck with your pregnancy!

It takes a special couple to be able to do what you are doing! I couldn’t do it with any 3 of my own. I chose very different names for mine. In a way it’s nice, but SOME family members have a hard time with remembering and such. Gavin Lance…Mason Patrick…Maranda Grace are their names.
I had my daughter’s name picked out originally for the first 4 months (we chose it the day we found out) and then one day hubby says “No, I don’t like that name”—needless to say I flipped out in a panic and got the baby book back out, got online again and pestered him for weeks until we agreed upon another name.
Best wishes-Have Fun with it!
