Whether you’re caring for a child with autism or a parent with dementia, Project Lifesaver may be able to help you rest more easily.
The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office first launched the program last April to provide transmitting bracelets to families to help track their loved ones if they wander from their home.
It reduces the amount of time it takes to find the person, and the amount of resources.
There is no registration charge to join Project Lifesaver. Families pay a one-time fee of $300 to cover the cost of the bracelet and a year’s supply of batteries. After the first year, batteries cost about $70 a year.
The Pinellas Sheriff’s Office has funding available to assist families who can’t cover the cost of the equipment. For more information, call them at (727) 582-6806.
