The weather’s finally getting warm and it’s time to start thinking about summer plans.
Lowry Park Zoo is offering a one-day sale on summer camp programs for students in kindergarten through eighth grade. Register online March 13 and save 15 percent on the weeklong camps.
There are more than 100 camps to choose from, including ones with cool names such as Eye Spy, in which children find animals that are masters of hide-and-seek; Fang Facts, which teaches kids about tigers, alligators and sharks; and Art Safari, in which older children can learn about animals while honing their painting skills. There are photography camps, horse riding camps and programs that teach animal care techniques as well. All are eligible for the 15 percent discount.

A typical day at summer camp includes hikes, animal encounters, arts and crafts, animal shows, discussions with animal keepers and classroom lessons.
The weeklong camps run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and prices start at $165 per child per week for zoo pass-holders and $185 per child per week for others.
Extended care is available for $25 from 7 to 9 a.m. or 4 to 6 p.m. The 15 percent discount does not apply to extended care.
For information, call (813) 935-8552, ext. 268, or go to www.lowryparkzoo.com.
