Halfway There

I’m officially halfway there!  I can’t believe I still have 20 weeks to go ... but at least the first 20 weeks are over.  In case you didn’t see the story we did with our high tech Ultrasound ... I’m having a girl!!!  We’re thrilled.  We already have a boy, so a girl will be a great addition!  Now all we need is a white picket fence and a dog.  We are clueless with names.  We really want something unique ... but not weird.  So if you have any suggestions ... We definitely won’t pick anything traditional, we don’t have any good family name options and I don’t want anything too trendy, so if you have an idea for a strong unique name, please feel free to share.

Hello Stacie!  Congratulations!  I am 26 weeks pregnant with our second son.  I wanted a girl SO BADLY, so I had already decided on a girl’s name.  Too bad we won’t be able to use it!  It is my husband’s mother’s name.  She died of breast cancer 20 years ago.  I’ve never met anyone else with that name.  Her name is Alenda.  Pronounced like agenda, but with an L instead of a G.  We were thinking of calling her Ally while she’s little.  I tried looking up the meaning of Alenda, but I can’t find a book or a source on the internet that can give me a meaning!  Hope you find a name you love!

I named my daughter Maranda Grace. The minute I saw her I called her “Randa- Rue” (don’t know where that came from!). I thought I would call her “Marah” before she was born, but the nickname just stuck. She is my “‘Randa”, my princess. Her half sister is called “Dani” (full name Crystal Danielle)..(my hubby is a huge Dan Marino fan). Some friends like to call my daughter “Randi”, but I’m not big on the “manly names” for sweet little girls. Good luck…can’t wait to hear the chosen name! I alos liked Peyton Alece and Kaylee(too popular) Alece. The name Alece is so soft, sweet and elegant

My niece is named Emerie after my dad. His middle name is Emory. I thought it a neat and unusual way to honor my father.

Your best bet?  Here’s what my husband and I did to agree on our daughter’s name:

Go thru a baby book on your own and write down all the names you like.  Have your husband do the same.  Then compare lists.  Circle the ones you both picked.

In our case, we wanted her to have a different name than anyone else in our family - so we crossed family names off the list.

Finally, we sounded out the remaining first names with our surname - and that’s how we came to decide our daughter’s name….

My daughter is 20 weeks pregnant.  We are going oct. 26 for 2nd ultrasound and hopefully will find out the sex.  This is my first grandchild and I am driving her nuts.  We are hoping for a girl, and will be named Alyssa Nicole.
