Halfway There

I’m officially halfway there!  I can’t believe I still have 20 weeks to go ... but at least the first 20 weeks are over.  In case you didn’t see the story we did with our high tech Ultrasound ... I’m having a girl!!!  We’re thrilled.  We already have a boy, so a girl will be a great addition!  Now all we need is a white picket fence and a dog.  We are clueless with names.  We really want something unique ... but not weird.  So if you have any suggestions ... We definitely won’t pick anything traditional, we don’t have any good family name options and I don’t want anything too trendy, so if you have an idea for a strong unique name, please feel free to share.

Stacy,

I am 22 weeks and also having a girl! My first and very excited. We felt the same way about names, especially since mine is so unique - pronouced REEgan.
We picked from something simple but different like Sybella, Tatum, Arden, etc. We decided on Arden and I can already picture a beautiful young lady growing into such pretty and unique name that doesn’t scream cute or “how do you say that name again?” Good luck.

So happy for you and your family-we feel like you are part of ours.

Hi, Stacie! Thanks to News Channel 8 for the Motherhood series. I am due late Feb. I have a unique name and gave it to my daughter as her middle name. It was Sophia Loren’s name in the Charlton Heston movie “El Cid”, which is based on a true crusade story. My name is pronouced “Chi” like Chicago and “mane” like a mane of hair. My point is, you might look at some movies of all types for names. Just an idea!

Hi Stacy;
I’ve never been able to have children so my husband and I decided to adopt a little boy.  However, we always had a name for a girl and was never able to use it.  The name is Chayil Noellani.
Chayil is pronounced Shayel meaning virtous woman and Noellani is beauty from heaven.
I thought it made a nice combination of a name.
God Bless you;
Esther

How about something that stands for your family heritage or backround?  My family heritage is Denmark.  My 9 year old cousin’s name is Dana which means “Of Denmark”.  My daugher’s name is very traditional, but when my husband and I have a second child, we are considering to use this way of thinking to name our second.  Just a thought is all.  Good luck.  Little girls are too much fun..especially shopping for them!

Hi Stacie,
As I am sure you have probably figured out I am nominating my name.I was named after my Godmother, who was named after two of her aunts- Laura and Ellen. I have done some searching online and found only three other Laurella’s. Good Luck. I hope you are feeling better soon. BTW girls are great, but present their own challenges, especially as teens!! Mine is soon to be sixteen. I also have an eighteen year old son.

Hi Stacie. My daughter will be turning 15 months next wednesday. Girls are wonderful. Full of hugs, kisses and bright-eyed smilies.  My husband and I named our girl Alexandria Christine.  Alexandria because it was unique and Christine for my mom. We call her Lexi for short and I’m so glad that we gave her my mother’s name. I laugh and call them soul sisters because they are so close. If we have a girl the second time, we plan to name her Isabella Marie.

Hi Stacie,

Congratulations on finding out it’s a girl!  That’s very exciting.  I had a girl 8 weeks ago and we named her Danielle Elizabeth Ashley.  My husband and I spent hours looking at baby names until finally one evening my husband came up with Danielle and it stuck with us.  It was funny my lactation nurse at Bayfront was also named Danielle. Good Luck with the name search and the only word of advice is make sure it’s easy to spell.  My mom had to go and name me Lorrie instead of Lori and I can never buy anything right off the shelf with that spelling.

Congratulations on your girl.  I as well am having a girl.  I am 20wks and just found out the sex.  I have 2 boys now so this is very exciting for us!  I have always said if I had a girl she would take my middle name (Gale), my mother also has the same middle name.  Now that we know we are having a girl my husband said he gets to choose the first name.  He came up with Kaleigh, which I loved so we are both happy!  Good luck to you and your family!

Congrats! I am also thrilled because I just found out I am 8 wks pregnant.  Haven’t experience anything unusual yet, but the weird part is that I loss my appetite so I have to force myself to eat.  Go figure!  Well, I have an unusual name for you.  It is lebannese and means “gracious woman” - The name is Shakira…yes, like the singer.  I think it is a very strong and original name.  Good luck to you!

Stacie,
Congratulations! I’m 24 weeks pregnant with my fourth baby. We have 3 girls and this one is a boy! I just turned 40 on the 10th, so this was a surprise! We are going nowhere with names right now, but I wanted to give you our girls’ names for ideas. We all have unique names, so I want the baby to also have something along the same lines.
Jaiden RaShai
Briahna Caitlyn
Breckyn Tielle

I’ll be following your stories!

Hi Stacie,
Congrats!  I have a 13 month old girl, named Paige Alena.  I think that both are very beautiful names.  I am also due in March and already playing the name game, so all these suggestions are great!
Good luck, Ali.

Congratulations! We have 2 girls and could never agree on names!  Our first daughter’s name is Danae Elizabeth (rhymes with Renee) and our second daughter’s name is Audra Rose (remember Audra Barkley?  Maybe before your time.)  We looked for strong names that weren’t too “cutesy” and ones you couldn’t make a nickname out of.  I always try to picture the name on someone who is 55 not someone who is 5, and if the name fits, it’s a winner!  Good luck!

I love the name Carson for a girl.

Hi Stacie,

Congratulations on your upcoming bundle of joy.  My best friend and her husband adopted her niece after getting her when she was 10 days old and when we all went to court for the adoption, her name became Olivia Renee-Reece.  Renee is my middle name and because she is my princess too, they gave her my middle name.  We call her Livvie.  She is now 5 years old and the joy of my life too.  I am unable to have children, but have been able to share in her life since she was 16 days old.  Girls are so much fun and enjoy every minute with her.  They grow up so fast.

Stacie Congrats to you and your family

As you when I was thinking names I didn’t want something common.  Of course, almost 17 (Oct) and almost 10 (Sept) was a long time ago and many names became for common.  But my youngest daughter is Ashley Dezree’ and the older daughter is Bobbiejo Sheris.

Let me say girls are great, when they are little.  There are so many frilly, cute things, and then they get their own personality and “style”, and my girls decided what they didn’t want to wear.  Now most the time they should have been boys.  For example, for the last 10 years or so, favorite sleep wear - their big brother’s boxers and muscle men shirts.  Now listen to that family argument over “his” underwear.  So dress her cute all you want while she can’t talk.
Best Wishes.

what about Angelena?

Posted by (Kim) on August 23, 2005

Hi Stacy,

I have just finally gotten around to reading these.  I think it’s a great idea.  I am an “old” mom, my daughter is 14 now.  But I remember it like it was yesterday.  That stuff about how you forget is, well, untrue.  I had a very difficult delivery, but a very fabulous daughter to show for it.  I wanted to suggest her name, because we love it, and we love her and she is the only one, aside from the celebrity she was named after, who has that name(that we have found so far).  So how about Kyrstie?  Pronounced like thirsty.  There’s not much awful stuff other kids can do with it, believe me, we know.  Good luck!

Congratulations Stacie to you and your husband. I have always loved the name Annie Rhetta - it was my grandmothers name & you have never met another character like her. Good luck to you & your family.

Hi Stacy

Just a couple of names that we are considering for a girl: Jennica, Keagan, or Lorelei.

Congratulations!
