Horror movie freaks can get their scare on during a free midnight movie series at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park this summer.

The “Scream on the Green” series, featuring three classic horror films, begins on Fri., June 21, and will be held on the third Friday of each month through August.

The series begins this month with “The Shining,” starring Jack Nicholson and Shelly Duvall, followed by “Dawn of the Dead” (July 19) and “The Exorcist” (Aug. 16.)

“For adults, this is a great way to enjoy downtown and Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park,” Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn said. “This experience will be something new and different for Tampa, but I think everyone will have a lot of fun.”

Concessions will be sold, and the Wicked Witches food truck will be on site. Low-back chairs, coolers and leashed dogs are allowed, but alcohol is prohibited.
