Free bike helmets for kids at Amscot locations

Local law enforcement offices and Amscot Financial Services will team together to give away free bike helmets on Saturday, Oct. 19.

Thousands of bike helmets for children ages 5 - 15 will be fitted and distributed to children in need across Tampa Bay area locations by law enforcement officers.

The event takes place at several Amscot Financial Services locations from 9 a.m. to noon.

Participating Bay area Amscot offices include:
Hernando County: 11148 Springhill Drive, Spring Hill

Highlands County: 1203 U.S. 27 N., Sebring

Hillsborough County: 105 W. Alexander St., Plant City; 7731 Palm River Road, Tampa; 8231 W. Hillsborough, Tampa and 2301 Fowler Ave., Tampa

Manatee County: 3611 First St. E., Bradenton and 737 Eighth Ave. W., Palmetto

Pasco County: 3416 U.S. 19 North, Holiday and 7707 Gall Blvd., Zephyrhills

Pinellas County: 3739 49th St., St. Petersburg, 2551 34th St. S., St. Petersburg; 6596 Park Blvd., Pinellas Park and 1825 Gulf To Bay, Clearwater

Polk County: 2121 8th St. NW, Winter Haven and 1412 U.S. Hwy 98 S., Auburndale

Sarasota County:  3333 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota

Children receiving the helmets should be present for a proper fitting and parents or guardians should accompany their children to the event.

Helmets will be given away while supplies last.
