My husband and I are passionate sports fans, and it’s a trait we’re passing along to the kids. But as the Tampa Bay Rays continue their wonderful and improbable run to the World Series, I admit I’m just a little concerned about keeping the kids up to attend games or watch historic wins on TV.
According to Kidshealth.org, kids ages 6 to 9 need about 10 hours of sleep a night; those ages 10 to 12 need about nine hours.
I can guarantee my 9-year-old daughter fell far short of that goal when I shook her and shipped her off to school this morning. And the boy – who turns 13 next month – is staggering through school this morning with a big smile on his face. I told him as I walked out the door this morning that he can go to bed as soon as he gets home from school…tomorrow.
So, what should I do this week? I know we’re taking the kids to World Series Game 1 Wednesday – it’s a once-in-a-lifetime family memory. Should I institute naps? Or keep the kids home from school? It’s an odd dilemma, but one I like having.
