Free beer with that pizza

Charlie & Millie’s Pizza House is offering a deal that might be too good to pass up this summer: free beer.

Customers who order a large pizza get a free pitcher of beer, Monday through Thursday. That’s worth $5 – the price of a pitcher of your typical domestic beer (Miller and Budweiser products). The deal doesn’t include the pricier Amber Bock beer.

The promotion is running through the summer as an incentive to bring people in during what’s typically a slow season – even at a place that’s been a local institution for decades. From the look of things, the deal seems to be working: Charlie & Millie’s was packed on a recent Wednesday night.

Cheap dental care is also fundraiser

If you lack dental insurance, you can now get some basic care at a discount while also helping those in need.

Dr. Randall Diez is extending his food drive and “Let’s Help Card” special another month.

For $39 patients can get an exam, cleaning and x-rays with proceeds going to Metropolitan Ministries. The offer is good through July 20, 2011.

National Ice Cream Day

Sunday July 17th is National Ice Cream Day and MOSI is doing its part in celebrating by having free samples of BlueBell ice cream and hosting an ice cream eating competition.

While dealing with your brain freeze if you eat to quickly, you can also watch a cryo freezing demonstration, using liquid nitrogen.

Just remember to be thankful for President Ronald Reagan for designating July National Ice Cream Month in 1984 and making the third Sunday of the month National Ice Cream Day.

Harry Potter Freebies

So with all the excitement over the movie release of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2”, I found a good deal if you’re a Kindle owner.

You can get for free from amazon.com the “Harry Potter Collector’s Handbook” and the “Unofficial Harry Potter Cookbook Presents – 10 Summertime Treats.”

Looking at some of the reviews for the cookbook, it seems that the recipes are not for everyone.

Then again, it’s free.

And if you’re a Potter collector, these are must haves.
