No. 1 on list of 10 questions: Did USF make right hire in Holtz?

Winning over fringe fans in this area is difficult when USF schedules schools by the likes of Stony Brook, WKU, and FIU.  I understand that the university has financial limitations when it comes to paying opponents for home appearances, but it’s tough to generate a local buzz when the Bulls bring in a train of FCS and mid-major teams.  I’m a season ticket holder, and I’m annoyed at the thought of waiting until October to see a home BCS opponent.

Hey Brian, good point about Shula…not sure that is one of his strengths…

Without question, Skip has the personality to win over hardcore fans and attract new ones as well.

I think USF was right to pick Skip.  However, Steve Kragthorpe parlayed a CUSA championship into a job at Louisville. . . . . so anything could happen.

Believe it or not, until Skip became a candidate, I wanted USF to hire Mike Shula.  I thought he would have been a good hire (still do btw) because he got railroaded at Alabama and many of his recruits just won the NC at Bama.  I also thought we would have got him cheap.

What I failed to consider when I wanted Shula was that USF still needed a guy that could go around Hillsborough and Piniellas counties glad handing everybody and talking up USF . . . . . . my boy Shula would have stunk at guerilla PR.
