Raglan Road Dinner

I’ve been a fan of Irish chef Kevin Dundon‘s for many years. What chef John Besh has done for New Orleans and bayou fare, Dundon has done for Ireland’s bounty of native food.

Dundon is a celebrity chef and TV star in his own country - best known for the series “Guerrilla Gourmet” and “Heat” - but is almost unknown among foodies on U.S. shores. Which is a shame. His cookbook “Full On Irish: Contemporary Creative Cooking” was a landmark in redefining Irish food as far more than the stereotypical meat and potatoes.

Dundon owns Dunbrody Country House Hotel in County Wexford in Ireland, but you can get a taste closer to home at his Raglan Road Pub & Restaurant in Downtown Disney in Lake Buena Vista outside Orlando. The gastropub was built in Ireland, disassembled and then rebuilt in Florida.

At 6 p.m. tonight, Raglan will feature a special menu in honor of the summer solstice. (In Ireland, towns and cities hold midsummer carnivals celebrating culture, music and food.)

The menu will include:

* A “picnic basket” of pates and homemade jams, including smoked salmon mousse and brandied chicken liver pate.

* A second-course Champagne Splashed Raspberry Sorbet.

* An entrée of Roast Stuffed Suckling Pig, braised vegetables, raisin and cider glaze and potatoes.

* Dessert of Pimms Knickerbocker Glory, a creamy after-dinner cocktail featuring Pimms liqueur.

* Craft beer pairings will include Guinness Foreign Extra Stout, Cigar City’s Jai Alai India Pale Ale and Bunratty Mead.

Raglan Road - Table Dance

Raglan Road’s house band, Creel, ALSO will perform along with the pub’s step dancers.

To book a table at the Midsummer Feast with craft beer pairings ($90 per person, plus tax and gratuity), call (407) 938-0300, or visit www.raglanroad.com.
