In the grand scheme of things, tonight’s Hillsborough-Jefferson matchup means virtually nothing. The teams are neither district opponents nor in the same classification.

However, there is no downplaying what a win in this game could do for either squad as a tone-setter for the season.

“It would be monumental,” Dragons coach Mike Fenton said. “It did last year when we beat them. I think that really got us going.”

Jefferson edged Hillsborough 16-15 in the 2009 season opener, getting a touchdown and a two-point conversion run from quarterback Quentin Williams in the final minute to secure the win.
