Story: County Line Road To Be Central To Lakeland-Plant City Growth
The greatest growth boom in Lakeland history is about to unfold in the southwestern area of the city, just across the Hillsborough County line from Plant City. About 20 major housing and commercial projects are in various stages of development in the area.
When and if all are fully built, they will have added more than 7,700 housing units, 11 million sq. ft. of warehouse space, 1.7 million sq. ft. of office space and 1.5 million sq. ft. of retail space.
But the boom could be slowed by traffic, school and water/sewer availability. City officials say their challenge is to find the services to accommodate this new growth while keeping the quality of the city’s traditional neighborhoods.
The location, developer and details of the individual projects coming to southwestern Lakeland can be seen above.
