Photo Gallery: Check Out Pictures Of The Challenge

I was pleasantly surprised today. We had a wellness screening at work. They checked blood pressure, triglycerides, cholesterol, etc. All of my numbers have gone down a great bit! My cholesterol has never been below 213, ever! Today it was 182. This makes all of this hard work worth while! This was the main reason I wanted to do this challenge, to become healthier not only for myself, but for my girls. I still have a long way to go, but I now know I am on the right track. So when you are tired and weary and do not feel like exercise, think numbers!
Today I went and worked out with cardio at my gym SHAPES TOTAL FITNESS I did 60 min. on the treadmill with a high-intensity interval training routine that was recommended by my trainer to help me with burning more fat. 4 min fast walk with my heartrate monitor...maintaining my heartrate at 85% and then kicking it up a notch to a jog and increasing the speed to take my heartrate up to 95-95% for 3 min. and then switching back to the 4 min walk at a lower speed...for a total of 60 min. Whew...it felt great and the time went by in no time...I was done.
I’m down to 14 lbs loss so far and eating is very healthy.
I will say that I’m working on still getting more fresh fruits and veggies in...I tend to grab for meal replacement bars and canned stuff that I can store away at my desk.
I could kick myself in the butt (literally) for not taking better care of myself before now...it’s not rocket science...ya know...(grrrr) It is science...but not rocket science. Calories in vs. calories out. But I’m trying not to be too hard on myself...at least I’m doing it now to make the best of today and tomorrow...right??? Right!!!
Until next time...Live for today and plan for tomorrow…

Visiting with a wonderful friend from Ohio, nice leisurely lunch, lounging at the Manatee Viewing Center and then trying to talk myself out of working out. Thank goodness this “trying” did fail. I went to Curves and feel so much better. Kinda shakes me loose and puts me back together again. Who knew exercise could feel so good?
Eat Less. Do More.

Now it’s on to Curves to put the exercise with the nutrition!
And with regaining the balance of life--my weight won’t be. The best part of my reaction to yesterday’s weigh-in---I didn’t throw my hands up in the air and eat my way through the day! In fact, I realized I might just be setting myself up to eat, then refused to fall for my own mind game. Now that is a great feeling. Anybody else play these mind games with themselves? There is so much more to nourishment than food.
I can’t believe it has been a month since we began this journey. I really didn’t comprehend the word journey, before this challenge! I have lost 10 lbs. so far. Unfortunately I did not measure inches, however, the clothes measure is beginning to happen. Today at work, I couldn’t figure out why my long sleeve blouse felt funny. It took my almost 2 hours to get it. My sleeves were longer! Anyone else know what I mean? I have lost weight in some weird places. I guess I’ve lost in my arms or shoulders. Sure wish it would come off other places now. I’ve been walking more and using light weights (only for a few minutes on the weights). So if you are out there, just making small changes really does work! Your sleeves can grow, also!
Yahoo--lost 7.5 pounds this first month, but to tell you the truth, which is always a good thing to do, I am a bit depressed. I wanted more, more--no--less, less. (I just started to write “trying to be happy” and there it is, the structured failure.) I AM happy about the loss. Especially since my body fat is 4% less, meaning I have lost almost 12 pounds of body fat and 10.5 inches overall. Guess I’m not ambivalent any more--just ready for the next 2 months. Bring it on!
That is what I will be doing tomorrow morning at 7:30. That’s when Curves will open and that’s when I will do my 1 month weigh-in. Time is doing its crazy little dance with me again - seems as if we just started the Challenge and seems as if it has been forever. Thanks to string theory and string cheese!
After my workout today I finished this great little book about time’s crazy little dance. The Plato Papers: A Prophecy, a novel by Peter Ackroyd. And as Plato says, “I would rather despise the whole world than to be out of harmony with my own self.”
9 pound loss already!
inches lost:
chest -2.00
waist -3.75
hips -1.25
thigh - 2.75
calf- 2.00
16.50 INCHES LOST ALREADY!!!
