Clothes Garden

Just think...at the end of this challenge, we can begin our very own clothes garden!  Way to go, Brenda!!  Last night my girls and I participated in the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life.  This is an all night event.  Someone from your team has to be walking at all times.  They have fun laps to keep you going, such as, crazy hat lap, teddy bear lap, scavenger hunt, etc.  We sure had a lot of fun!  We stayed until 3:30 a.m.. I did notice that this year, I was not near as tired or out of breath after a lap.  I could go 3-4 laps at a time, no problem.  So getting some weight off and exercising really does work!  The best part of the night is realizing that you might of made a small difference in someone’s life.  Our team raised over $14,000 dollars towards fighting cancer!  I’m so proud of the staff and families at Wesley Chapel Elementary School!  They really care about the important things in life.  smile

Finally

My pant legs have grown as Nancy’s sleeves have! It has been tough losing weight--so I upped my food journal writing to include calories and am saying the patience mantra. Seems strange to be working hard at this and losing so little weight. Of course, if it came off as fast as it goes on, this wouldn’t be a Challenge! I am taking solace in the inches melting away and the heart rate slowing down. And come to think about it, that’s not a bad place to be at all.

Out of the 200’s

Today was a hallmark moment.  Today for the first time in a long, long time, I am out of the 200’s I weighed in today at 199.4 this morning so I’ve lost a total of 26.6 lbs as of the beginning of this Challenge.  I am elated!

This weekend I went thru my closet and put in bags for the Salvation Army all of my size 18’s and am now losely fitting my size 16’s.  They’ll be gone by month end.  I was listening to a Jack Cansfield audio cassette on Positive Self Esteem and Self Image and one of the tools that he encourages in bringing new things and ideas into your life is by getting rid of those things you currently have that you cannot use.  It is by holding on to those things that it keeps you from moving and growing and making yourself available for new prosperiety.  So I released all my business suits and casual clothes to gift to someone else that can use them. :o) I WONT be needing them anymore.  And I welcome the release of the 16 then 14 and I’ll settle in to the 10-12’s to keep for my new lifestyle of taking care of me. :o)

Today was a great day for me.  I released a lot of what used to hold me back.  Clothes was just one of those things.  I also released a lot of resentment, anger and saddness from a close personal relationship with a long-distange estranged family member.  That was even more difficult because there was not instant gratification like giving away clothes to the needy.  This release was a spiritual and mental release and while it was not fun to do...I’m glad that I did.  I’m not going to let those feelings bind me anymore.  I forgive and move on to a healthier, happier Sonya.

See...It’s true that weightloss is not just about the number on the scale. It’s much deeper than that.  It’s about loving yourself enough to say No to what is not healthy for you and Yes to what pulls you up higher mentally, physically and spiritually to live Your Best Life. Not anyone elses...Your Best Life...Now...Today…

God bless you all and thank you for all that you do for me here on this Blog and in each of your personal circles of family and friends.

Can’t Touch This

The last song I heard working out at Curves was The Hammer’s “Can’t Touch This.” And it is true. Can’t touch this feeling of really, really doing this for myself--for my health, for my flexibility, for my good feelings. Not trying to lose weight because of the new guy in my life, or the reunion coming up, or the trip back to Ohio. And buying new jeans, new size 16 women’s jeans, isn’t bad either! From 24 to 16--now, I admit, I have to do the key extraction dance in these, but they can be worn out in public and very soon will be!

Eat less. Do More.

Grateful

I’m so grateful to Marty and TBO for extending our Challenge!  This will be a great way for us to continue our weight loss efforts.  I made the 40 miles I set out to do over break!  I still can’t believe it!  I would love to start a bike riding group for beginners.  There are plenty of bike clubs, but none that I know of for beginners.  Hopefully I can do something like this.  Keep reading for details.  Marty, I too love “bunny ears”. (and the rest of the bunny) This year I only had one.  Any other year, I would’ve had 3 to 4.  The Palmer chocolate company will now lose money because of us!  What a shame!  This week I will be busy getting ready for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life all night walk.  It begins on Friday evening and ends on Saturday morning.  I do not have to walk that long, just part of it.  I look forward to being able to walk more this year.  Last year I used the “I’m videoing” excuse not to walk!  So everyone, keep moving and eating healthier!  grin

The New Midway Point

Call it new math. Two months into the three-month Weight Loss Challenge, our group hits the midway point.

How so? Well, we at TBO.com and 4you have become so addicted to this group of folks, we offered them a chance to stay on for an extra month. They agreed, so the weight loss continues through the end of May.

Of course, we’re quite confident that the weight loss will continue for these six individuals past that date, too, as they continue to improve their health and fitness. If their progress so far is any indicator, there’s no question about that.

The six have lost a combined 107.5 pounds in two months, setting a record for the Challenge (see chart below). Last year’s best group dropped just short of 100 pounds in three months.

So keep up the great work, Challengers! We’re enjoying every lost pound of it.

THROUGH MARCH

Women Feb. 1 – March 31 – Pounds lost

Nancy Reese 212 - 196 - 16

Sonya Kennedy 225 - 204.5 - 21.5

Brenda Wiseman 211 - 198 - 13

Total women’s loss: 50.5 pounds.

Men Feb. 1 – March 31 – Pounds lost

Marty Gonzalez 400 - 374 - 26

Dan Shelnutt 435 - 410 - 25

Jon Close 229 - 223 - 6

Total men’s loss: 57 pounds.

Feelling Good With A Little Help From My Friends

Got through a rocky patch, talking to friends and looking within. I did eat about it, but I ate apples and bananas and power bars--oh, my!

So the habit of eating about feelings is not completely broken, but I am aware enough to NOT eat that bag of cookies . Progress may come one crumb at a time. As long as it doesn’t crumble.

(A big thank you to Jeff and The Roaring Mouse in Brandon for getting my computer fixed in record time! Without his help I wouldn’t be blogging today.)

Is Plateau A Four Letter Word?

It ought to be. It is one of those places you know is coming, but hate to arrive. Oh well, I am going to take my stay on the plateau and then keep on moving. No candy all weekend!! Now that’s what I’m talking about.

Total Shock & Disbelief!!!

I went in and got weighed today. I am down 25.5 lbs since February 1!  I am 1/2 lbs away from being out of the 200’s.  I had the strangest feeling/sensation...I was in total disbelief and had to get off and back on the scale again because I couldn’t believe I’d lost over 4.5 lbs. last week.  Next week I’m going to be in the 190’s and FINALLY out of the 200’s.  I am soooo happy and can really see my body changing.  I’m starting to LOOK on the OUTSIDE how I FEEL about myself on the INSIDE.!!!

SUCH A GREAT FEELING.

I read my own bio this morning that I posted for this TBO.com challenge and I’m happy to say that I have MET my GOAL!!!! A FULL 3 WEEKS EARLY!  My goal was to lose 20-25 lbs. So not only will I have met the challenge goal but I’ve surpassed it and will just totally crush it by end of the month with another 5-10 lbs.

My NEW GOAL is to be at 150-155 by my 5-year wedding anniversary in July. So that is 12.5 lbs. per mo.  Now that is a goal that is attainable with hard work and the 3 P’s Patience, Practice & Persistence.  That will be my anniversary gift to MYSELF and to my Hubby…

Feelin’ good and looking forward to a great day and future!

Be blessed everyone…

Out For Breakfast

And I brought home half my omelet. I just can’t get over the little surprises that are happening every day--it is too much fun! Yesterday I put on a shirt that I haven’t been able to button in years--just thrown it over a tank top--and I could button it. Not only could I button it, but it didn’t get caught on the “rear bump.” (You know, that one that looks like a built in bustle.) The other day I put on some capris, and like Nancy’s sleeves, they had grown. Then there is the extra energy which allows me to do so much more in a day. It’s all good.

Spring Breaking Habits

Well Dan, I’m now right in the middle of Spring Break!  So far so good.  I’ve been spending a lot of time with my girls, shopping and the like.  Any other time, that’s all that we would have done.  This year we have made plans with friends to go to Fred Howard Park and take the bikes!  I can’t wait.  It will be so nice to be able to keep up and not to make an excuse why I can’t ride that far!  I’ve been riding everyday.  I’m up to 19 miles since Saturday.  I’m shooting for 40 this week.  It’s still hard to believe that a few short months ago, I never would’ve dreamed of a goal like that!!  I would’ve been lucky to make 40 steps, let alone 40 miles!  I’m down 16 lbs. now.  I’d like to thank all my team mates (even the guys!) for all of the great support!  Let’s finish this month with a bang!
We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us!! Phil. 4: smile 13.

Kicking It Up A Notch

I’m with you, Sonya. Getting thinner and having fun! Eat “guilt free mashed potatoes....add yogurt instead of using butter and milk. The protein in yogurt cuts the glycemic index of white potatoes from a high 93 to a low 38.”—First

It’s All About The Math

Eat less + Do more= Healthier + Happier life

After 58 years, I think I’ve got it. The Challenge becomes the Commitment. The Commitment becomes the Habit. The Habit becomes the Lifestyle. The Weight Loss Challenge will be over in a month and 2 months ago I pretty much thought that would be it, even if I didn’t admit it. NOW I have made the commitment and feel a habit coming on! A big thank you to all the comments and reactions, it has helped me more than you can realize.
