Visit Camden apartment complexes this month and you’re likely to walk into a party. Through the end of the month, pet parties at various complexes will feature adoptable pets from the Humane Society of Tampa Bay; microchipping coupons for animals adopted during the events; food; drinks; prizes; dog training tips; and more.
Admission is free; leashed, friendly pets welcome. Camden communities accept large and small pets. Anyone who signs a new pet lease this month will pay no pet deposit and only half the pet fee; plus, Camden will donate $50 to the Humane Society.

Stop Pet Overpopulation Now seeks 72 cats and dogs to appear on its next calendar. Enter photos of your pets at spotusa.org and they may be among the top 12 cats and dogs to win prizes and star-of-the-month spots on the calendar.

Come in short tails, long tails or bobbed tails to the sixth annual black-tie-optional fundraiser for the Humane Society of Tampa Bay.
The event includes a celebrity and pet fashion show, silent and live auction, entertainment, dinner and dog-themed dessert. It’s from 6 to 11 p.m. Saturday at the Pepin Hospitality Center, 4121 N. 50th St., Tampa.

Feline Folks, a nonprofit organization dedicated to humanely managing cat populations, plans Cat First Aid, a free workshop, at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
If you have a stuffed toy cat at home, please bring it with you for practice. The location is South Shore Regional Library, 15816 Beth Shields Way (off 19th Avenue Northeast), Ruskin. Hillsborough County Animal Services, 440 Falkenburg Road, Tampa, will hold orientation sessions for people interested in volunteering. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old.
Volunteers walk and socialize with the animals, wash and groom them, take digital photos of them, help look for lost pets, and escort potential adopters to the kennel.
Orientations are at 10 a.m. May 21, 5:30 p.m. June 12 and 10 a.m. June 28. Parents must accompany minors. Call (813) 744-5660 for information and reservations or go to hillsboroughcounty.org.

Then scamper out to the 4th annual “Pet Palooza”, hosted by Camden Apartment Communities and The Humane Society of Tampa Bay. Special treats await pet adopters and renters with pets at 9 Bay Area Camden communities in May.
Festivities include adoptable pets from The Humane Society of Tampa Bay, micro-chipping coupons for animals adopted during the events, food, drinks, prizes, dog training tips and more.
Best of all, for every pet lease signed in May, Camden will donate $50 to the Humane Society! Pet deposits will be waived and the one time pet fee is discounted 50% for renters who adopt. Another benefit, every Camden community accepts large dogs--no pet weight restrictions.

Get your dog shampooed and towel dried between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday at the sixth annual dog wash at Medicine River Animal Hospital, 11141 U.S. 19 N., Suite 402, Clearwater. Cost is a $15 donation to the animal charity of your choice.
Representatives from Southeastern Guide Dogs Inc., Coastal Poodle Rescue, Save Our Strays, Florida Doggie Paws Rescue and Great Pyrenees Rescue will be on hand, among others.

Through May 30, any pet spayed or neutered at the Animal Coalition of Tampa’s Spay-Neuter Clinic will get a free microchip with the clip. Microchips provide a permanent form of identification that can ensure you’re reunited with your pet, whether it runs away or you’re separated in an emergency, such as a hurricane.
Appointments are required; call (813) 250-3900. Current rabies vaccination is also required, but it’s available at the clinic, 1719 W. Lemon St., Tampa. Spay-neuter surgeries cost $40 to $95, or less for low-income Hillsborough County residents. Go to actampa.org for information.
The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Tampa Bay hosts a Be Kind to Animals Adoption Weekend from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. Meet the shelter’s animals and catch a Tellington Touch therapy demonstration from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, all at the SPCA, 9099 130th Ave. N., Largo.
