OK, I’m not really reporting from Fashion Week (we don’t have the budget for that). But you don’t really want to go to that very exclusive, invitation-only takeover of New York City do you? While you ponder that question, let me tell you about some glitz and glamour you can catch right at home.
Tonight at 10 p.m., the Sundance Channel will air “The Day Before Proenza Schouler,” a glimpse behind the doors of some of the world’s leading fashion houses. The four-part documentary chronicles the final 36 hours prior to crucial seasonal runway shows featuring creations by some of the fashion world’s leading designers. The episode spotlights Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough, the young visionaries behind the edgy and elegant Proenza Schouler label, as they prepare to debut their Fall 2009 line.
At 11 p.m. Friday, you can turn your attention to designer Karl Lagerfeld, the man who defined high fashion and Chanel, Chloe’ and Fendi’ in the 1980s and 1990s, during “The Day Before Fendi by Karl Lagerfeld.” It showcases the unflappable designer while he presents his Fendi Fall 2009 collection in Milan March.
Lastly, at 10 p.m. Saturday, you can catch “The Day Before Jean Paul Gaultier” as it goes behind the scenes at Gaultier’s July haute couture show in Paris.
You can catch all the excitement without leaving the comfort of your home. Now, do you still want to go to New York Fashion Week? Ok, don’t answer that.
But while we’re on the subject of fashion, don’t miss Tampa Bay’s very own Fashion Week Sept. 23 through 26 right. Check out: http://www.fashionweektampabay.com for details.
