Actress and style icon Farrah Fawcett lost her batter with cancer Thurday.

For a lot of her fans, myself included, it all began with that hair.
I, too, wanted to have Farrah Fawcett hair. And so did all my little girlfriends.
Farrah’s trademark long, thick, fluffy,, feathered streaky blonde locks with lots of flip was the envy of all the mothers in my Ybor City neighborhood, black, white and Hispanic.
I remember women of all ages flocking to salons to get the Farrah look or something that looked like it. We even bought her hair products believing it could give us Farrah hair. Women grew out their hair so they could wear her ultra-feminine, sexy style. Unfortunately, weaves weren’t popular back then so many of us simply donned wigs to get a similar look.
Every now and then, we’d spot a woman who got her look spot on and we’d wanna slap the flip out of her hair because we couldn’t get it like Farrah.
Farrah had beautiful hair. Beautiful style. And she was a beautiful woman.
Rest in peace, Farrah.
