It’s big. Really big. History-making big.
But that’s about all USF will say after sending out an invitation to an “HISTORIC MOMENT” at the USF College of Medicine tomorrow.
“Please come and hear how the college, USF Health, the university, and our community will be deeply shaped in the coming years. We can’t tell you what the surprise is – but it’s big.”
I’d be happy if they did something about the parking problem at Panera’s at lunch time, but I’m guessing it’s bigger than that.
A half a dozen inquiring phone calls to business and community leaders yielded a few clues – a big donation perhaps – but nothing definitive.
Even County Commissioner Victor Crist, who’s been involved for years in university area projects, said he didn’t know what it was.
USF College of Medicine Dean Stephen Klasko has so many irons in the fire, Crist said. “I don’t know which one it is, but I guess it’s one of the big ones.”
One person who does know, Bob Abberger, of developer Trammell Crow, isn’t talking, other than to say this:
“Has to do with medicine, expansion, jobs…it’s good.”
So stay tuned.
