Only at the Olympics will a field hockey coach be ejected because of his players’ undies.
New Zealand hockey manager Kevin Marr had to watch the match against Germany from the grandstand. Why?
Because three of his players wore black undies beneath white shorts in an earlier match.
Under the Olympic field hockey rules, shorts and undies must match. But New Zealand were in their white strip in an earlier match against China, and the players did not own alternate white undies. Oops.
Ma Phelps Whirlwind
You thought Michael Phelps had a busy week. Mom Debbie had her hands full, too, while watching all eight gold-medal victories.
Honored as the ”Johnson’s Baby Mom of the Olympic Games,” she shot a commercial as part of the company’s “Thanks, Mom” campaign.
She’s always trying to promote awareness for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. Mike was diagnosed as a kid.
She has all the media outlets interviewing her since returning to the states.
And tomorrow, she’ll return to Windsor Mill Middle School in Baltimore, where she is principal.

It could be a good start.
Hurdler Hurting
China’s hurdler Liu Xiang apologized Tuesday for withdrawing from the Beijing Games the day before.
He was unable to compete in a qualifying heat for the 110-meter hurdles, the event in which he is the reigning Olympic champion.
“I didn’t feel right when I was warming up before the race. I knew my foot would fail me. I felt painful when I was just jogging,” he said
He’s got looks. He’s got personality. And he’s had success in a track and field event normally dominated by non-Asians.
No pressure!
Take it from me. If you have injuries, it’s not worth racing and hurting yourself more.
Xiang, you are very honorable in my eyes.
BMX And Olympics?
