Tri-ing To Make A Difference

Remember Chad McLeod, the young guy who’s survived sarcoma?

He ran the Miles for Moffitt 5-miler with his oncologist, Sam Agresta.

Now he’s gearing up for the Ford Ironman World Championship on Oct. 13 in the beautiful Kona, Hawaii.

That’s a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike ride and a 26.2-mile marathon. Ouch!

He’s been training since December, and he wants to make his first Ironman count.

So he’s tri-ing to raise funds for his friend Andrea Dicks Hartley. Andrea, a 30-year-old mom, passed away about a year ago.

Her family and friends set up the AD Fund at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute.

Chad says: “I ask that you consider donating to the AD fund. All gifts are tax-deductible. To do this, I have partnered with Janus Charity Challenge, a
group that allows Ironman athletes to raise money for the charity of their choice.

“I have less than three months before Ironman and would like to raise as much money as I possibly can. I just need your help. As you think about donating, please pass this on and encourage others to contribute to this worthy cause. Thank you for your support.”

To donate online, visit Chad’s fundraising Web site.

You can mail checks to Moffitt at:

Moffitt Cancer Center Foundation (write “AD Fund” in the memo line)
Sarcoma Program, 2020A
12902 Magnolia Drive
Tampa FL 33612

And check out Chad’s progress as he gets pumped for the Ironman on his blog.
